Chicago flooring and remodeling services
Luxury vinyl plank — LVP for short — has changed what is possible in flooring. It looks like real hardwood, handles water without swelling or cupping, resists pet scratches, and installs over almost any subfloor. For kitchens, bathrooms, basements, mudrooms, and rentals, it's often the best balance of durability and price.
Not all LVP is the same. Wear-layer thickness, plank construction (SPC vs WPC), and click-lock quality vary widely between brands. We carry COREtec, Shaw, Mohawk, and other tier-one manufacturers — not the cheap big-box stuff that delaminates after two years.
LVP installs faster than hardwood and most products are 100% waterproof, which means kitchen and bathroom installs no longer require tile. We will help you compare wear ratings, plank widths, and visual realism so the floor still looks great five years in.

How it works
We handle every step under one roof — no subcontractors, no project managers, no surprises mid-project.
We come to you, measure the space, and walk through your goals, timeline, and budget. No high-pressure pitch — just an honest read of what the project takes.
We bring samples or invite you to the showroom so you can see materials in person. Once you pick, we order through our distributor network so you get dealer pricing.
We schedule installation around your calendar, confirm prep details (furniture moving, old material removal, subfloor checks), and lock in start and finish dates.
Our team handles the install start to finish. No subcontractors. Site is kept clean during the work, and we communicate every day if the project takes more than one day.
We do a final walkthrough together to make sure every transition, edge, and detail meets your expectations before we call the job done.

Frequently asked
Tier-one LVP is fully waterproof for surface spills, pet accidents, and most plumbing leaks. The plank itself will not swell or warp from water. The subfloor underneath can still be damaged if water sits long enough, so prolonged flooding is still a concern, but routine spills and bathroom moisture are not.
LVP is fully waterproof; most laminate is water-resistant but not waterproof. LVP is also softer underfoot than laminate. Laminate is typically less expensive but isn't recommended for kitchens, bathrooms, or basements. We can show you both at the estimate.
LVP wins on water resistance, scratch resistance, price, and ease of maintenance. Hardwood wins on resale value, refinishability, and that authentic real-wood feel. For families with kids or pets, basements, kitchens, or rentals, LVP is usually the smarter pick. For formal living rooms in a forever home, hardwood often wins.
LVP typically starts around $3.49 per square foot installed for entry-level, with tier-one brands like COREtec running $5 to $8. Pricing depends on the wear-layer thickness, plank width, and underlayment.
Often yes — LVP can float over most existing hard surfaces (vinyl, tile, hardwood) as long as the subfloor is flat and dry. Carpet has to come up first. We inspect at the measurement.
Single room installs typically finish in a day. Whole-home installs run two to three days depending on square footage and prep. LVP is faster than hardwood because there is no acclimation requirement on most products.
Tier-one LVP with a 20+ mil wear layer typically lasts 15 to 25 years residentially. The wear layer is the thin top coating that resists scratches and dents — thicker is better for high-traffic homes and pets.
